Sa Wakas! Eraserheads Reunion Concert
By now, most of you probably heard about what happened to Ely Buendia during the Eraserheads Reunion Concert that was held at The Fort last night, August 30, 2008. It is sad that they were only able to play one set. Well, it was still a great set. I heard that there were supposed to be three sets. The second was supposed to top the first while the last (set) will be the best, well of course! It was very unfortunate that they were not given the chance to WOW their audience, which is what they usually do which is why they have very loyal fans. Is it obvious yet that I’m one of them?
Anyway, I still like Eraserheads. When I first heard the chords of Alapaap as they started, 10 minutes after 8:00 pm (yes! there was a countdown), I started jumping up and down, accidentally pulling the strap off my bag. Well, back to my story…
Ligaya followed and then there were fireworks. Hearing and watching them play together after a very long time brought back memories of attending their gigs three times in a row. Buying their albums (in casette tape) and listening to their music on the way to the province. Memorizing song lyrics on the album cover which was covered with each of their scribbled autograph. So there they were, several feet away from me, and with a space as big as The Fort it certainly felt like kilometers. A group of fans would shout, “Group hug!” in between songs, as they played 13 other songs. The last song, Lightyears was somehow anticlimactic since the show was not really supposed to end with that. It was great nonetheless. As my mother said, we were part of history. Okay, music history.
